Tv, Windowshades, & Haircuts

Tampa, Florida

We had the "day off " yesterday and spent it just puttering around the house.  We didn't have anywhere that we needed to be and it was a most enjoyable day. We never left the campground and it felt really good!  We briefly contemplated a kayak trip or a drive to the beach, but decided we'd rather just relax around the campground.

The weather was nice and sunny and the temps in the upper 60's.  There was some kind of big thing going on and many golfers were out on the course today.

We spent our day just cleaning and organizing around here.  Al did some window cleaning.  It's amazing how fast they get dirty. We had a day/night shade that needed fixing and Al (my hero) managed to get that fixed. Yea...now I can have sunlight coming in that window!

We had about given up getting satellite reception here, but Al decided to give it another try.  He finally picked up a signal, but the readings were only  in the 70's which is not nearly enough to get a picture.  He finally moved the dish to a new location and got a signal locked on!  We get all the channels, including the DNS channels for ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox!  Yea....no more commercials!!!  My hero!

I gave us both a haircut with our Flowbee haircutter.  We're now presentable again!  Al was getting a bit shaggy, so we felt good about that.

I have to take Mom in to get the heart monitor put on today and Al has a few remaining pest control accounts to finish up.  I might bring Mom over here to see where we are staying.  She hasn't gotten out here yet.

We're still trying to decide where to go next.  Our plan was to head to Welaka, Florida the 29th. We have reservations there for 2 months.  I'm thinking we should stay closer to Mom though, so that's not looking promising.  We just haven't found anything close by that is reasonably priced.  I need to get on the ball and start looking.  We can stay here for $695 a month (electric included).  Now that we have satellite, that sounds a little better. We'd like to find something cheaper, but other than the Escapees campground in Bushnell, Florida, I haven't found anything.

We tried to find someone that could deliver propane to us here in the campground and were told of a law against propane delivery to an Rv.  It seems that it's too dangerous to fill up the propane tank on an Rv.  They can do it to the houses and businesses, just not rv's.  Makes you feel real safe, huh?

  1. Our RV park has propane delivery every week...and we're in Florida. Very interesting.

So glad Al the Man got the satellite issue solved. When you enjoy TV as much as you do, I know this really is a wonderful thing. We are the same way...we may be in an RV, but it's our home and WE WANT OUR TV.

Hope you can find another campground. How far would you feel comfortable being away from your mom's house? Maybe 1/2 hour?

  2. Don't know how far you want to be from Mom but Crystal River isn't too far up the road from you. If you check out the Rock Crusher Canyon rates keep in mind the monthly rates INCLUDE elec, water, sewer, and basic cable (70 channel). It seems to be about at the limit of what you're looking to pay. Great area here and open sites.

  3. Over the years we have stayed at numerous RV parks in Fla and never had a problem with getting propane delivered and filled at the site.

  4. Al got both the satellite and day/night shades fixed in one day - that's almost superhuman!!

Strange law about the propane, I'd never heard of that before. I wonder why it's more dangerous to do it in the park than at a gas station?? Must be a local ordinance of some kind, perhaps.

  5. We had propane delivered when we were in the park in Florida. Strange law they have there. Hope you warm up into the 70's soon. I like the 70's and 80's better than the 60's. However, 60's are better than 20's.

  6. Glad the weather is nice for you. How long does it take to get from Welaka to your mom's place?

I have missed any information about what kind of place she is living in. Her own home? Assisted living? And who takes her for doctors visits etc. when you are not there.
Do you have any brothers or sisters in the area?

I'm sure you will make the right decisions about where to stay. Just do the best you can.

  7. Not sure of your distance requirements, but this is one park I had saved... http://www.bettertimesrv.com/pricelistl.htm

I think the propane delivery thing must be a county or city thing. We checked another rv park and they had the same rule. It figures!

Thanks for the reminder on rock Crusher canyon. The rates are pretty good. We may take a trip out there today.

Mom is still in her own home. My brother also lives in Tampa. Welaka is about 137 miles.
