Upsetting News

Lutz, Florida  -  Winter Quarters Rv Park

We made the “long” 65 mile drive back from Crystal River to Winter Quarters Rv Park.  We have been making this our home base while in Tampa because it’s close to Mom’s house and convenient for everything else.  With our Thousand Trails membership, we have been getting a discounted  rate of $120 per week.  Next month the weekly rates will double. You can get a good monthly rate, but the weekly or daily rates are usually pretty high.   Finding campgrounds in the summer is easy and they discount the rates, but the winter is a whole different story.  We’ll probably go back to Zephyrhills next month.

Yesterday, I got a call from  Carol Busse, my dear friend in Arkansas.   Carol and I met in the 7th grade and have been friends every since.  Her husband Mike has been having headaches and was feeling a little tired but otherwise was fine.  That was until Tuesday when all of a sudden he couldn’t talk and didn’t know where he was.  They got him to the hospital and they determined he has a large brain tumor.  They don’t know if it’s cancerous or not at this point, but either way, it’s not a good thing.   They are doing more testing today.  If any of you are inclined, I would very much appreciate your prayers.

It just reminds you that nothing is certain and your happy life can change in an instant.  Carol is amazingly strong.  I know in her position, I would be a basket case.  She is a nurse, so she is used to dealing with bad things….just not with her husband.

  5. Ouch on the rate hike! Too bad it just can't stay the same rate year long.
I hope your friend's husband can have some corrective surgery. My thoughts & prayers are with them.

  6. Good wishes to your friend and her husband. My dad had a huge tumor at the base of his brain when he was 53. They removed it, and he is now 89. My mom took wonderful care of him after his surgery, and they traveled the world when he recovered. Medical science is so much better now, I hope your friend has very good results. :)
