Most Amazing Thing

Lutz, Florida

There is a commercial on tv that asks, “what is the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen?”

It got me to thinking.

Not counting the birth of children, what is the most amazing thing you’ve even seen?

Some things that came to my mind was the shark feeding frenzy we witnessed (up close and personal), the orange/pink clouds when I was flying back from Japan when I was 9 years old.  Many of our scuba dives gave me some amazing sights, like the view of a school of fish swimming over your head with the sun shining above, or the huge Tiger shark that drifted by (a couple of times).  I have seen so many amazing things while diving, it would be hard to think of just one. We’ve also seen some amazing sunsets.

Since we’ve never been to the Grand Canyon (yet) I can’t compare.

I still don’ t know what the  most amazing thing is.  Do you?

  1. That is a very interesting question. If you leave out those personal life events, it is indeed hard to say which is the most amazing. I have been lucky enough to see a great deal of the world. Certainly the natural wonders in this great country have to be high on the list. We have been to the Grand Canyon and it is awe inspiring. But I have also seen the Ancient Greek monuments, the pyramids, the Sahara Desert, sailed the Greek Isles about which Homer penned his greatest stories.
Then there are the natural wonders of central Africa. Then there are the great cities of Europe, sailing the Chesapeake Bay, the Mayan Ruins and on and on. I enjoyed all of them. For me, it is impossible to say which is the most amazing.
Perhaps what is most amazing is that we have the opportunity to experience so many great places and people. What I am also sure of is that there are far too many great places yet to see for me to get to in one lifetime. But it is sure fun trying!

  2. One of the most amazing things we've seen is the monarch butterfly migration in the highlands of Mexico. (The pictures don't do it justice!)

  3. Sitting within feet of a salmon fishing grizzly in Geographic Bay, Alaska, has to be near the top for me. But, like Chuck, I am still looking for that one most amazing sight! :)

  4. Being adopted...for me it was HER face...finding my birthmom when I turned 51. And the big bonus...was their faces...my sister and two brothers.
There are no sunrises or sunsets for me that can match the feeling of seeing them for the first time.It was a completion of me!!!!

And I love when I am flying and the sun is peeking out in the horizon with the clouds. It reminds me of what is to come down the road with Jesus.

  5. One of those things is when I was a kid & I revived a dying cricket. That scared the life out of me though! I remember putting it in a box & I kept massaging it & it came back to life.

  6. I don't know about an amazing sight, but one of the most amazing feelings I have ever had was the sensation of being "held" up while flying in a small two seater airplane. It felt like a big hand was holding us up.

I am not religious. I know there was no invisible hand.

  7. I know it doesn't compare to the Grand Canyon, but it was pretty amazing to me when I saw squirrels swimming in our backyard pond just for the heck of it. They jumped in from the shore and swam around a bit. It was neat to watch.

  8. I think for me it was standing at the top of Mt. Haleakala in Hawaii before sunrise and seeing the Milky Way so clearly and then when the sun broke the horizon and was announced by a native. I still get goose bumps thinking back on that morning.
