Flagler Beach, Florida
We got up early and watched the sunrise as usual.
The skies were pretty clear, so you could actually see the sun come up.
It was a pretty morning. We will miss our early morning trips to the beach.
Afterwards, we took our 2 mile walk over the bridge. We didn’t stop as often for photographs, so we got pretty good exercise. We need to get into the habit of getting a good walk in every day.
Afterwards we drove down towards Daytona Beach.
We very much prefer Flagler Beach over the Daytona area.
They are having a big problem with seaweed washing onto the beaches. You can see the yellow in the waves as they crash onto shore.
We thought about taking a drive onto the beach, but at least in the area we looked at, there really isn’t much beach left. It appears there has been a lot of beach erosion and what sand left is covered with seaweed.
This is the only time I’ve seen traffic signs on a beach!
A few sunbathers have been run over while sunbathing on the beach, so I guess now they have an area strictly for vehicles.
I’m sure the beach looks better other times, but this part wasn’t very pretty, so we decided not to bother trying to drive on the beach. Beaches come and go, so in a few months it could all change.
We’re going to go for a nice hike in the state park next door and then just hang out around the house the rest of the day. Gotta rest up for our busy week-end!
You do know you're making me tired with all this getting up so early don't you. But I sure do love your pictures.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBack here in the mountains for a while so I sure do appreciate those beautiful sunrise over the ocean pictures. Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteI'd try to post you a sunrise over the mountains on my blog but the sun is half way up in the sky before it gets over the mountains. LOL
Maybe a sunset!
Your shots are just beautiful! I really wish I was walking the beaches of Florida right now, instead of facing the onslaught of winter weather for the next 6 months!

We've driven on the beach of the NC Outer Banks...and got stuck. The guys in the truck in front of us pulled us out of the deep sand easy enough and we kept going. I don't know if I'll do it again though.

OMG! The beach looks awful!! I really hate to see it in that condition. I always hated seaweed wrapping around my legs when we were in the water....kinda creepy feeling.
