Peak Hurricane Season

Vero Beach, Florida

September 10th marks the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season.

The following image shows the hurricanes, tropical storms and waves that we are having to watch.  It’s a busy time for the weather guys right now. Smile

Hurricane Trackers and Hurricane Information

It was pretty cloudy here yesterday. There were some big storms that moved in but we got very little rain.  It was a good day to hunker down and watch a movie.  We watched  Limitless.   It was enjoyable.

I don’t think  kayak diving is going to be in our immediate future.  The storms are bringing in high surf and rip currents.  I guess we’ll just have to come back here again.  That is the nice thing about being fulltimers.  We aren’t on vacation, so we don’t have to cram everything into a certain time frame.

We are finding our new home is very comfortable.  We think we made a good choice.   In the other motor home, we were constantly getting into each others way.  We don’t have that problem now.

We are very anxious for summer to be over and the temperature to start cooling down.  We can’t expect any cooler temps until October, but we’re getting close.

  1. Just like all the other crazy weather this year, I think it will be a very active hurricane season. I agree knowing you don't have to pack it all in like a vacation makes full timing a joy. There is always another day or even another trip. :)

  3. Yupper you got to watch out for them hurricanes ~ the good news we can pick up our homes and leave. Glad you are getting along great with your new home... It is a important thing that you be comfy and get along great to make the fulltiming life work! You have that in your favor! We'll be back in a few weeks ~ earlier then we like but my daughter talked us into watching her boys while they take a well deserved vacation.

    Have fun & Travel safe

  4. After this past summer I think lots of folks are welcoming the coming of fall.
Growing up in Daytona Beach I definitely remember this time of the year. My dad lost his entire business during Hurricane Donna in the 50s. Had to start all over again. You guys stay safe!!

  5. Peak Hurricane Season must be a scary time..lots of action going on with the weather!!..stay safe!!

  6. Be safe! It looks like a wicked season.

  7. In Maine it is already feeling like fall. Going down into the forties tonight. Actually had to run the heat during the day today:(

  8. Oooh I think all those storms look pretty scary. You got wheels, start up and head NORTH...(and a bit west too) LOL

  9. What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time you were looking forward to your winter vacation and wondering if the house would sell. All has gone so smoothly.

  10. Isn't it great to know that your "vacation" was ruined, just postponed for another time. That's the joy of being a full-timer - just change plans when necessary. I had been wondering how you were adjusting to the new motorhome. Seems like it is working out just fine - you must enjoy the extra space a lot.
