We drove approximately 125 miles today and have settled into a nice campground in Elko, Georgia. Definitely not a PDD day but is the kind we like.
We have 244 miles to drive tomorrow, but then we’ll be back at our mountain retreat! I’m getting excited! We have to get through Atlanta traffic, but once we do that we’ll start gaining some elevation and seeing mountains. Can’t wait!
We didn’t get on the road this morning until nearly 11am. Since we didn’t have a long drive, there was no hurry. We stopped at a Flying J for fuel and left $167 poorer. There was a nice fruit stand nearby and we got some nice looking Georgia peaches and some Vidalia onions.
Twin Oaks is a very nice park right off the interstate. We’re going to get our chores done tonight and be on the road early in the morning. (we always say that but we never do. What do you think the chances are we’ll leave before 8am?)
Once we got here, we made a trip into town for an early dinner and some groceries. Al told our kitty Chatty that he would get him some turkey. Chatty is elderly, and not real healthy, so he gets special treats. Unfortunately, once we got back, Al walked in the door, looked at Chatty, and remembered we had forgotten the turkey. I would have found him something else, but Al didn’t think he could break his promise! So back he went to get the promised turkey. Yes, he’s a good Dad!
That's a pretty long drive tomorrow, but at least then you'll be home!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Chatty is very happy with his Dad. Glad to hear you are closing in on your beautiful cool spot. Who's renting your other lot right now?
ReplyDeleteYes. Chatty is very happy. Some Tampa friends are renting the lot for the month.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget we have dibbs on October! Really looking forward to reading mor about it this summer.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't forgotten!
DeleteI bet you're going to be glad to be out of the heat. It's awfully hot here by the lake!
ReplyDeleteOn the home stretch, so you will want to get going.
ReplyDeleteSave travels and cooler weather ahead for you.
Al is such a softy. He's doing a great job spoiling Chatty!
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a good daddy!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope the north Georgia mountains are cooler than the middle west area of Georgia...boy has it ever been hot lately!!! The humidity has been awful as well. If its cool we might have to take a road trip to the mountains. Just haven't been motivated to take the camper out lately.
Wow, Al is a mighty good dad....So happy you are back in the cooler mountains of GA. Now, if we can escape the heat and humidity of Indiana the end of next week.
