Snow?

Blairsville, Georgia  (high 62, low 36)

We intended on leaving next Sunday, thinking Sunday would be the least traffic in Atlanta.

However, as much as we dislike driving the motor home through heavy traffic, we also hate driving in the rain.

The current forecast is showing rain Sunday through Tuesday so we may just try to head out on Saturday.  Next order of business, is to check to see if  Georgia Tech be playing at the stadium in downtown Atlanta.   It appears they won’t be, so Saturday might be a good day to head get through Atlanta.

Once we get through Atlanta, our hope is to make it back to Tampa with only one overnight stop, but that will have us driving about 280 miles per day.  We prefer a little less, however, since it will be mostly all interstate, if we can get an early start and not get held up in Atlanta, we might be able to tough it out.

As much as we hate to leave this area, I think it might be getting time to head south because it looks like some really cold weather during the middle of the week, and there is even a 30% chance of snow on Wednesday.   Wow, it’s been years since I’ve seen that “S” word on my forecast.

The down side to owning a place up here, is that we have to prepare both of the RV lots for the winter, so there is more to do before we leave.  I think we might drain and winterize the hot tub today.   : (

We are thinking it’s smarter to do as many of the outside chores as we can while the weather is nice, because we are expecting more overnight temperatures in the 20’s towards the middle of the week.

  1. A forecast of snow is a really good reason to head south:)

  2. Elevation must matter, because your temps are similar to ours in New England. Who'd a thunk it? Happily, we will be heading south to PP next Sunday and hoping for a WARM Florida winter this year.

  3. Who knows what the weather will be a week from now. I looked at next Saturday's forecast for Houston and it calls for rain. That's the day of the big Wildlife Expo on the refuge. I'm hoping the front moves through faster than the weather guessers predict.

Too bad about having to close up the hot tub. :(

  4. Not fun having to winterize. Winter is just no fun anyway! Today it was 80 here, and all the windows are wide open :-)

  5. Snow. It's that cold white stuff that Floridians (and too many Northerners) are allergic to. Hope you beat feet to the FL sun before the snow catches you!

  8. Yep, might be time to head south. Just remember, here in Georgia, we love to forecast snow and it rarely comes!! Just lots of fun to watch folks load up on milk and bread!! I suppose you have to be respectful to the mountains though!! You guys drive safely...Florida is waiting!! :-)

  10. I have been surprised that you are there in November at all. Definitely sounds like it is time to winterize and move south. We will be in Zhills for the last two weeks of November. Maybe we can have a happy hour together. Safe travels.
