Pinterest?

Zephyrhills, Florida  (high 75, low 43)

It was cool last night.  We were toasty warm under the electric blanket but the kitties were cold so we turned on the heat for them.  Yeah, they’re spoiled. I love cool nights and warm days.

I have another appointment to have my eye pressure checked today.  It should be down since I am on medication, but then again,  it shouldn’t have been up after the laser surgery.  Hopefully it will be resolved soon.  These doctor appointments make it difficult to plan anything fun.  Hopefully this week will be better.

Are any of you using Pinterest?

Rick  posted about it a while back and my first thought was NO….too much stuff already.  After I read about it, I could see some benefit.

Quite often I read a blog post a nice campground or interesting place to visit.  I make a mental note to “remember” it.  Yeah right….with my good memory???

I thought Pinterest might be a good place to make these notes.  Think of it like a big bulletin board.

I joined Pinterest, but haven’t played with it much.  Every time I pulled it up, I got a big mess of other peoples “pins.”  This is not what I wanted to see.  I finally got into it a bit today and figured out how to get to MY pins and make my own categories. It’s not difficult, but takes a little time to get it figured out.

I was reading Where's Weaver this morning and someone mentioned saving that post to their “Texas” pin.  That sounded like a good idea….separating these favorites by state.  So I went and fooled around with Pinterest a bit , made a category, for Texas, and added their post to MY  Texas pin.  Such a good idea to separate by state.

I also made a category of My Favorite Things.  It’s kind of like Oprah!  I’ll add to it occasionally.

Anyway, I think I’m going to start using Pinterest more as everyone heads out for their summer travels.  One day we’ll head out west and now I’ll be able to remember some of these places I have wanted to visit.

How about you?  Do you use Pinterest?  What sorts of categories do you use?

I think it might be a good idea.  Of course I also thought Google + might be a good idea, but it is overrun with people I never heard of who are “following” me, so that I’ll see their advertisements.   It’s way out of control.  It may just be that I haven’t taken the time to learn about it though……and probably won’t.

We’ve really been “in the money” lately.  After we got the $50 from Trailblazer Magazine for my photograph, we got a letter and nice gift certificate from Lazy Days.

When Gin and Syl decided to buy a new motor home, they decided to check out Lazy Days, after reading my blog about the great service we had received when we bought there.

They ended up buying their new Winnebago at Lazy Days, and  gave them  our name as a referral.  Lazy Days sent us a nice “thank you”.  We’re getting a  nice gift certificate plus a free 4 day, 3 night rally at their campground.  Thanks again Gin and Syl.  We’re glad they treated you as well as they did us.  If any others buy from Lazy Days and have done so from our recommendation…don’t forget to mention us!   We like free stuff!

Windy and Cooler

Zephyrhills, Florida  (high 73, low 39)

The storm line that caused all the tornados in the south and midwest,  moved down to us here in central Florida last night.  It brought some gusty winds and a brief period of pretty hard rain, but nothing severe.   Many people didn’t even bring in their awnings.

This morning the sun is shining, but it’s still pretty windy.  I guess I can quit whining about it being too hot….and start whining that it is too cold.  Down to 39 tonight….brrrrr.   Last night’s low temperature was 77!  That’s quite a drop.

The community yard sale yesterday was pretty successful.  We sold most of the stuff we had by 10:30.  Some of the rest will go to charity and a few other things (like the 30 amp surge protector) will go on Craigs List.   Some things are worth putting on Craigs List and some things are best sent to Good Will.

I kept Al busy with our sale, and he didn’t get to hunt for any bargains!

Al has a wild hair that we need a new truck.  Our little Nissan Frontier works really well as our Toad,  but it has 135,000 miles on it.  I’m wanting to drive it another year or so.   He’s afraid something expensive will go wrong and we’ll have to have it fixed before we can sell it.   Right now we have it and the Honda CrV that we could use as trade-ins.  We have it all set up for towing,  plus we have the little topper on the back, and the kayak racks.  I really don’t relish the thought of doing that all over again.  Not only is it time consuming, but it can be expensive.  I’m trying to keep him away from the car dealers, but he tricked me yesterday and pulled into a Nissan dealer.  Fortunately, they didn’t have the truck we’re looking for!

My picture of the day was taken from Sunshine Key, watching the sun rise.  Less than 3 weeks until we’re on our way.  God willing!
