Oui, Oui

Fort Myers, Florida

We like the new campground.  We’re staying at Pioneer Village Rv Resort in North Fort Myers.  It’s just a few miles off of interstate 75, so it was easy to get to from Tampa.

There is a railroad track and we chose a site right by the track!  The train doesn’t appear to run often though, but there is a mystery theater dinner train that comes through a few times a week. We had front row seats to the train full of passengers.  It hasn’t bothered us so far.  The trains that have come by are going slow and are fairly quiet and short.

It was fairly empty when we first got here a few days ago, but boy are the snowbirds coming in left and right.

We took a walk around yesterday and noticed a lot  of cars from Quebec.  We heard a lot of French being spoken.  It’s such a cool language.  I enjoy hearing people speak French.  I downloaded a free app on my Droid where you can say something in English and hear it spoken in French (or 50 other languages).  Maybe I’ll just have to learn some French while we’re here!

We have French Canadians on both sides of us now….we’re surrounded.  Smile   I noticed a lot of the signs in the park are written in French.

Here are some pictures of our campsite.

There are some small campsites right in front of us.  Hopefully they will stay vacant until we leave. They really are pretty short for most snowbirds.

We like it here in Fort Myers and have already started to dread leaving next week.

  1. We stayed in a park in New Hampshire once...we were the only ones speaking English! It was weird! I took seven years of French so I can understand a little but have forgotten how to speak it. It certainly is a beautiful language.

  2. This park is 75% French Canadians which I have nothing agaist ~ my dad was French Canadian... However they kinda stick together and are not really friendly to the US citizens. Not rude but not friendly! After 7 years here we are chaging parks next year for many reasons...

  4. Looks like a nice park. We have a lot of Canadians in our park, but not from Quebec - most are from Ontario and really nice people. I have heard that the French don't care much for Americans - as Donna said.

  5. I don't think the French Canadians care much for the other Canadians either.

  7. We have come to think that trains are a part of the campground atmosphere, as so many are built near train lines. Most of the time, we do not mind them at all and occasionally are interesting.
