Zephyrhills, Florida (high 75, low 43)
It was cool last night. We were toasty warm under the electric blanket but the kitties were cold so we turned on the heat for them. Yeah, they’re spoiled. I love cool nights and warm days.
I have another appointment to have my eye pressure checked today. It should be down since I am on medication, but then again, it shouldn’t have been up after the laser surgery. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. These doctor appointments make it difficult to plan anything fun. Hopefully this week will be better.
Are any of you using Pinterest?
Rick posted about it a while back and my first thought was NO….too much stuff already. After I read about it, I could see some benefit.
Quite often I read a blog post a nice campground or interesting place to visit. I make a mental note to “remember” it. Yeah right….with my good memory???
I thought Pinterest might be a good place to make these notes. Think of it like a big bulletin board.
I joined Pinterest, but haven’t played with it much. Every time I pulled it up, I got a big mess of other peoples “pins.” This is not what I wanted to see. I finally got into it a bit today and figured out how to get to MY pins and make my own categories. It’s not difficult, but takes a little time to get it figured out.
I was reading Where's Weaver this morning and someone mentioned saving that post to their “Texas” pin. That sounded like a good idea….separating these favorites by state. So I went and fooled around with Pinterest a bit , made a category, for Texas, and added their post to MY Texas pin. Such a good idea to separate by state.
I also made a category of My Favorite Things. It’s kind of like Oprah! I’ll add to it occasionally.
Anyway, I think I’m going to start using Pinterest more as everyone heads out for their summer travels. One day we’ll head out west and now I’ll be able to remember some of these places I have wanted to visit.
How about you? Do you use Pinterest? What sorts of categories do you use?
I think it might be a good idea. Of course I also thought Google + might be a good idea, but it is overrun with people I never heard of who are “following” me, so that I’ll see their advertisements. It’s way out of control. It may just be that I haven’t taken the time to learn about it though……and probably won’t.
We’ve really been “in the money” lately. After we got the $50 from Trailblazer Magazine for my photograph, we got a letter and nice gift certificate from Lazy Days.
When Gin and Syl decided to buy a new motor home, they decided to check out Lazy Days, after reading my blog about the great service we had received when we bought there.
They ended up buying their new Winnebago at Lazy Days, and gave them our name as a referral. Lazy Days sent us a nice “thank you”. We’re getting a nice gift certificate plus a free 4 day, 3 night rally at their campground. Thanks again Gin and Syl. We’re glad they treated you as well as they did us. If any others buy from Lazy Days and have done so from our recommendation…don’t forget to mention us! We like free stuff!
My picture of the day. A cute little Dove.
Yes, Karen, I do use Pinterest, for much the same reasons. I wanted to keep track of place to kayak, RV parks, recipes and such. I am new to it, but would love to follow YOU and get all those pins by state! Love those short cuts from friends. Great idea. I have no idea how to find anyone there, however. I don't have mine set up to automatically post to FaceBook as some folks do. I'll be looking for you, though.
ReplyDeleteSue...no idea either how to follow. There is a link where you can invite friends. Guess I'll pick it up as I go.
ReplyDeleteI, too use the pinterest..but am new to it also..haven't quite figured out all the in's and out's!!
ReplyDeleteI had Pinterest and finally quit. Too much stuff and connections to people I didn't know posting stuff I had no interest in. I even wrote to the company asking how to delete people and got no response. When I first signed up I had a ton of people that seemingly came with the sign up. I figured out how to make categories and such but just couldn't get rid of all the junk. So I quit! Maybe if I go back and start over I can get a better handle on it. Good luck friends and let me know how it works for you.
ReplyDeleteI do not use pinterest and now I am wondering why not... I keep documents I create on the computer of campgrounds, places to visit and things to do but maybe this is a way to go... I just don't want to add more computer time to my days...lol lol
ReplyDeleteHave fun
Donna
I use it mostly for my writing...things to inspire me, future characters, fantasy places, etc. But I also have one board where I pin things for our future cabin and an RV related board.
ReplyDeleteWhen you first join, do NOT follow anyone on the welcome/intro part. Took me forever to eventually unfollow them. Don't ask me how, I've already forgotten.
I now follow only boards that interest me. Oh, and you can find me at http://pinterest.com/donnabmcnicol/ (Feel free to email me through my blogger profile if you want an invite to Pinterest)
Well, Karen. invite me? then maybe I can follow you. Maybe if I invite you that would work as well
ReplyDeleteyea, I use it... but you already know that don't you?
ReplyDeleteWell I don't use it but ya'll have a lot of good ideas for using it.
ReplyDeleteI read Rick's how to use it but I have enough trouble with blogger so I hope you'll keep blogging about it so I can learn how to avoid all the mistakes before I step in. LOL
Like squawmama, I feel like I already am on this infernal machine too much as it is and hesitate to add something else to what I'm doing here.
I aspire to be a full-timer in the next few years, but for now, I'm a very busy fifth grade teacher. Pinterest is wonderful for finding great teaching ideas, crafts, and holiday activities for my classroom. I have several boards just for education categories!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of starting one for rvs and full-timing!
I was just reading an article about it this afternoon! Catching up on the three days of papers that were in our box from the weekend. I did think it would be a great way to plan future trips. Maybe I'll start too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out. I use Pinterest for pine needle baskets I find on the web. I also am setting state divisions also. I think it is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is a strange site but I used this link to learn how to delete people who I must have accidentally said I want to follow.

I was able to get rid of all of them. Now it is really strange how you do it but it works.
How this works. ~wheresweaver
I made some boards for my favorite photos..but haven't quite figured out the site yet. Congrats on getting money for photos! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI was all set to use Pinterest, but was overwhelmed by the immense amount of other people's pins ... and couldn't find a way to get through the set up without having to follow others ... will take another look at it ... I really only want an online bulletin board.
ReplyDeleteGoing to have to give Pinterest a closer look, I would like to be able to remember notes on places to visit from others blog's. Hope all goes well with your next eye check.
ReplyDeleteI love pinterest, if you go to settings you can "unfollow" people. I can not figure how to get to settings on my phone but can from my laptop. My girls love to do crafts we see on there.
